Crystal Palace FC Foundation and Croydon Partnership offered young people in Croydon a unique chance to join a summer school Football Academy.
Boys and girls aged 11 – 16 were offered a free place on one of the two 6 week courses, specifically created to cater for local young people who might not ordinarily be able to get the opportunity of top flight coaching. Designed to be challenging but very enjoyable ways to improve fitness, agility, balance and coordination as well as helping to develop key technical skills such as passing, shooting, dribbling and defending.
Crystal Palace FC Foundation liaised with seven schools from across the borough, who were asked to nominate young people to the Academy.
Donald Forde, Head of Crystal Palace FC Foundation said “We engaged with a wide range of schools to involve young people who might not ordinarily have the opportunity of top class coaching.”
