CROYDON’S FIRST AND ONLY AWARD WINNING ROOFTOP CINEMA AND BAR RETURNS THIS MAY
KICKING OFF THE SUMMER OPEN AIR FILM SEASON IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CROYDON PARTNERSHIP
The Croydon Creative once again invites cinema-goers to join ‘Lost Format Society’, the award winning rooftop experience recommended by Time Out and only to be found in Croydon.
Lost Format Society 2017 will see a summer season of rooftop film screenings, an exciting collaboration with the Croydon Partnership, the joint venture between Westfield and Hammerson, all taking place at a brand new venue, high above the Centrale Shopping Centre, delivering the same passion for cinema, top quality entertainment and the very best food and drink.
Croydon as a whole is currently undergoing a huge phase of redevelopment, with a massive injection of public and private funding being put into the reinvigoration of the town. Returning for the third year, Lost Format Society has been at the heart of kick starting Croydon as a cultural hub in Croydon’s modern reawakening.
Steve Yewman, Westfield’s Development Director said: “The Croydon Partnership is delighted to host the Lost Format Society Rooftop Cinema and Bar atop the Centrale Shopping Centre this summer. The space, with an array of entertainment and activities from yoga gardening workshops, will help generate further buzz around Croydon, attracting local community as well as new visitors to the area. “Over the next few years, the Croydon Partnership will transform the Whitgift and Centrale into a world class retail and leisure destination, and we are excited to be bringing unique events into some of the unused spaces within the development, giving people the chance to actively engage and take part in events in Croydon, which is central to our work in the community.”
New for this year will be special silent film screenings launching with the Charlie Chaplin classic 1925 silent comedy The Gold Rush, with resident orchestra London Mozart Players & Ben Palmer performing the film-maker's Academy Award®-nominated score.
2017 also sees the return of South London’s best monthly rooftop parties with the very best live music and DJ’s providing the sound track to enhance the summer vibes. Alongside a season of incredible cinema, there will also be an sensational schedule of events and activities, weekly rooftop yoga, quality street food, independent film screenings showcasing the work of women in the industry in conjunction with BFI, gardening workshops run by the dedicated community of Lend and Tend, and so much more at the free to enter Lost Format Society secret garden oasis.
‘Lost Format Society’ is conveniently located right next to the high street on the top floor of the Centrale shopping centre car park and opens on 18 May, running from Wednesday to Saturday every week.
Screenings commence once the sun sets. Tickets for the first month of films will go live on Tuesday 11th April @ www.lostformatsociety.co.uk
